Hail Damage Repair at Turk’s Collision Center

Hail Damage on the hood of a car. Learn how to repair damage at Turks Collision Center

During a severe storm, a vehicle left exposed to the elements is susceptible to hail damage. Hail damage occurs if a storm strikes while away from your garage or if you park your car in the streets. Dents caused by hailstorms reduce your vehicle’s resale value. In addition, large dents are unsightly. Hails of any size can damage your vehicle. However, hails measuring at least one inch in diameter can cause severe damage.

Hail can cause paint chips and scratches by scraping against body panels. A severe hailstorm can also break your glass, mirrors, and lighting fixtures. It is unadvisable to repair a hail-damaged vehicle by yourself. However, vehicle owners are tempted to use do-it-yourself techniques, such as sun exposure, hairdryers, or dry ice, to clean their windshields. Unfortunately, most of these methods do more harm than good.

Turk’s Collision Center is your perfect fix as it offers the best hail-damage repair services in East Peoria. It is a state-of-the-art body repair shop that does all collision repairs with excellent artistry.

Methods we use to repair hail damages

Depending on the severity of the hail damage to your vehicle, we can perform one of two types of repairs. Technicians can extend the time needed to repair your vehicle if a supplement service is required. Again, the customer is informed of the surcharges and the revised pick-up date.

The methods include:

  • Paintless Dent Repair

Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) is the first method of hail damage repair. From drop-off to pick-up, hail damage repair with PDR typically takes a few days. First, technicians assess the vehicle’s damage. Then, we begin the repair process after evaluating the damage and determining it can be removed through PDR (80 to 90% of all dents can be).

In most cases, PDR requires access to the backside of the dent, which entails removing body panels, taillights, and in some cases, interior panels. You need access to the dent to perform PDR. Turk Collision utilizes a special light board to provide a clearer view of the dent from the technician’s perspective.

The light board highlights the dent on the panel and instructs the technician on where to position tools behind the dent to restore the body to its original condition. Pressure is applied to remove the dent. Then, specialized instruments are used to refurbish the exterior back to its original position. Depending on a dent’s severity, our technicians can complete the PDR process on the same day. The results are astounding, considering how non-invasive and quick the process is.

  • PDR and Conventional Body Repair (Combination Repair)

The second method entails using PDR and conventional body repairs. This method is known as combination repair. Depending on the severity of the hail damage, this repair could take a few days or longer. After your estimates, Turk’s Collision Center will work with you to determine the repair time. If you are unsure of your availability at the time of the estimate, a Customer Service Representative from Turk Collision will contact you within 48 hours to schedule the repair. Additionally, customers can schedule repairs via the Customer Care Center.

How Long Does Hail Damage Repair Take?

The time required to repair your vehicle varies depending on the storm’s severity and the vehicle’s damage. For instance, technicians need one to three days to fix minor to moderate hail damages. On the other hand, severe damage repairs may take two to three weeks, especially if the damage involves panel replacement and paintwork.
